Change the pedals
How do I change the pedals?
- Prepare the appropriate tool.
For the disassembly / assembly of the pedals, an Allen key (4, 5, 6) or open-end wrench (15) is needed.
- Disassembling the old pedals
To remove the old pedals, place the wrench cleanly and turn in the direction of the rear wheel.
- Assembling the new pedals
Before you screw in the new pedals, grease the threads in any case. Grease and paste are water-repellent and protect the threads of crank and pedal from corrosion.
Note the different thread direction! The pedals are marked, depending on the bike model:
L - left pedal, left-hand thread - screw clockwise.
R - right pedal, right-hand thread - screw counterclockwise
The indications "left" and "right" always refer to the rider's perspective, i.e. as you look at the crank from above.
- Screw the left pedal into the left pedal crank, the right pedal into the right pedal crank. Always screw the pedals into the thread of the crank in the direction of travel.
- Finally, tighten both pedals with a torque wrench. Pay attention to the Newtonmeter specification of the manufacturer so that you do not break the thread.
Note: If the pedal can not be easily screwed in (mounted), check the pedals first on the left / right side.
