Cross and fitness bikes - bikes for all occasions

Normally, the term "neither fish nor fowl" has a negative connotation. Cross and fitness bikes prove that this can be quite different. These very special bikes are not limited to one special discipline such as city traffic, off-road or long distances. They bring together the best of all worlds and are therefore flexible all-rounders. With our high-quality cross bikes and fitness bikes, you can not only get from A to B in style, but also work on your sporting goals in comfort. Click through our offer and convince yourself.

The perfect all-rounders for commuters

Cross bikes and fitness bikes are characterized by a sporty design. Are designed as all-rounders to move quickly and efficiently on both asphalt and gravel roads. The combination of tremendous maneuverability, powerful brakes and excellent power transfer from the pedal to the road make cross and fitness bikes the ideal companion for commuters. Thanks to narrow tires, rolling resistance remains low, which ensures optimal propulsion. At the same time, cross bikes and fitness bikes offer a number of options for equipping with practical accessories that make everyday life as a commuter easier. Whether narrow mudguards that protect against dirt on the way to the office or ergonomic saddlebags that make backpacks and shoulder bags obsolete - no wishes remain unfulfilled here.

Achieve sporting goals efficiently

There is hardly a bike that is 100 percent suitable for everyday use that allows you to achieve your sporting goals as easily and efficiently as cross and fitness bikes. Put simply, they are a mixture of road bike and mountain bike that gives you as much freedom as possible in your choice of routes. Narrow tires, large 28-inch wheels and a lightweight frame ensure maximum riding fun at sporty speeds on gravel and asphalt as well as on forest and field trails. At the same time, our cross bikes and fitness bikes come with high-precision derailleur gears with up to 30 speeds. This means that even crisp inclines are no problem. Even high speeds beyond 30 km/h can be reached effortlessly with the appropriate pedaling. Being sporty ambitious and at the same time comfortable on the road - that is the great unique selling point of fitness and cross bikes. Whether you simply want to improve your endurance, shed some excess pounds or train towards a specific performance goal - the choice is yours!

What are the differences between cross bike and fitness bike?

Basically, the cross bike and the fitness bike are characterized by their very similar areas of use. Even if central components such as the sporty derailleur, the narrow tires and the biting disc brakes are the same, there are differences in the orientation of the bikes. Whether a cross bike or a fitness bike is the optimal everyday companion for you depends on your area of use. The fitness bike is clearly more oriented towards the road bike. Its particularly low weight and agility make it ideal for sports and everyday use on the road as well as on paved paths away from roads. If, on the other hand, you also frequently ride on gravel and forest paths, you are better off with a cross bike. Here, the tires are often somewhat wider, which provides better cushioning on bumps. This brings the cross bike a little closer to the classic mountain bike, but without reaching its weight. Some models even have a suspension fork for even more off-road capability. When buying a cross bike with suspension fork, make sure that the damping can be deactivated. This significantly reduces the effort required to move forward when no suspension action is needed.

Caution: differences between women's and men's cross and fitness bike In order to roll smoothly while biking, the bike must be ideally suited to its user. For this reason, a distinction is also made in cross and fitness bikes between special frame shapes for women and men. Cross and fitness bikes such as the Koga Colmaro Sports Men use the classic diamond frame. This is characterized by the horizontally running top tube, which provides extra stiffness. This in turn improves propulsion, especially during sporty riding. For this reason, bikes with "men's frames" are also popular with many ladies who like to ride sportily. The men's frame is contrasted with the women's frame. In the manufacture of cross and fitness bikes, trapezoidal frames are mainly represented, and more rarely double tube frames. A trapezoidal frame, as offered by the Koga Super Metro Damen, is characterized by a lower entry, which makes it easier to get on.

What is the optimal seating position on a cross and fitness bike?

If you want to be sporty on the road, you also have to sit properly on your cross bike. Only when the saddle is at the right height can the thighs transfer power to the pedals in an optimal way that is easy on the joints. The seat height should be adjusted so that the knee is almost fully extended when the front foot is in the 6 o'clock position on the pedal. The approximate optimum seat height can be roughly calculated by multiplying the stride length by a factor of 0.88. The stride length, in turn, is measured on the inside of the thigh starting from the crotch to the sole of the foot. Unlike on a road bike, the seating position on cross and fitness bikes is upright. Consequently, the stem must also be adjusted accordingly so that the back is straight in the riding position and the hands rest loosely on the handlebars. This can be raised or lowered using the washers (spacers) attached to the bike fork. Some bikes are alternatively equipped with adjustable stems that can be adjusted via a joint.
