Bike bags - What bags are there?

Bike bags and baskets can help keep your belongings clean and safe with you. The possibilities to create storage space are many.

Bike bags for the luggage carrier

Pannier bags, also called rear panniers, are mounted - as the name suggests - on the luggage carrier. Mostly on the side of the carrier. However, there are also bags that can be attached to the carrier itself.

  • Handlebar bag
Handlebar bags or also called front bags are, as the name suggests, located at the front of the handlebar. These are convenient when you want to quickly access something or have ready to hand such as valuables. They serve quasi the handbag. In larger handlebar bags also fit parts of the equipment or other important utensils for the trip inside.
  • Saddlebag
The saddlebag is attached to the back of the saddle or seatpost. Often spare parts and other accessories are stowed in it. Larger saddlebags can be used for bike trips or longer tours due to their volume and offer optimal storage space.
  • Frame bag
Frame bags are suitable for various small items such as a water bottle. The top tube bag is comparable to the handlebar bag, because you can quickly and easily store and remove important things near the handlebar.

No matter which bags you attach and use, always pay attention to the additional weight. Any weight can affect the handling of the bike. This additional weight should also be considered when choosing the route.
