Cross- & Fitness Bike - the Allrounder

These very special bikes are not limited to one special discipline such as city traffic, off-road or long distances. The flexible and practical all-rounders combine road bike with mountain bike. This makes them ideal for all indecisive cyclists who are particularly versatile on the road. No matter whether asphalt or gravel road: With our cross bikes and fitness bikes, respectively, you are prepared for all challenges. The versatility of our bikes is inspiring. They bring together the best of all worlds and are therefore flexible all-rounders. With our high-quality cross bikes and fitness bikes, you not only get from A to B in style, but you can also comfortably work on your sporting goals.

Cross bikes and fitness bikes are characterized by a sporty design. The combination of enormous maneuverability, powerful brakes and excellent power transfer from the pedal to the road make cross and fitness bikes the ideal companion for commuters. Thanks to narrow tires, rolling resistance remains low, which ensures optimal propulsion. At the same time, cross bikes and fitness bikes offer a number of options for equipping with practical accessories that make everyday life as a commuter easier. Whether narrow mudguards that protect against dirt on the way to the office or ergonomic saddlebags that make backpacks and shoulder bags obsolete - no wishes remain unfulfilled here.

Achieving sporting goals efficiently
With hardly any bike that is 100 percent suitable for everyday use, you can achieve your sporting goals as easily and efficiently as with cross and fitness bikes. Put simply, they are a mixture of road bike and mountain bike that gives you as much freedom as possible in your choice of routes. Narrow tires, large 28-inch wheels and a lightweight frame ensure maximum riding fun at sporty speeds on gravel and asphalt as well as on forest and field trails. At the same time, our cross bikes and fitness bikes come with high-precision derailleur gears with up to 30 speeds. This means that even crisp inclines are no problem. Even high speeds beyond 30 km/h can be reached effortlessly with the appropriate pedaling. Being athletically ambitious and comfortable at the same time - that is the unique selling point of fitness and cross bikes. Whether you simply want to improve your endurance, shed some excess pounds or train towards a specific performance goal - the choice is yours!

Crossbike or fitness bike: What are the differences?
Crossbikes are closely related to fitness bikes and look very similar. Even though key components like the sporty derailleur, narrow tires and biting disc brakes are the same, there are differences in the bikes' orientation.
Whether a cross bike or a fitness bike is the ideal everyday companion for you depends on your area of use.

The fitness bike is clearly more oriented towards the road bike. Its particularly low weight and agility make it ideal for sports and everyday use on the road as well as on paved paths away from roads. Fitness bikes have a lower center of gravity and often do without the suspension fork. Therefore, although cross bikes offer greater comfort, they also weigh more. With the fitness bike you are particularly fast on the road, because the narrow tires and the fast gears drive you to new record values. With the cross bike, on the other hand, you can sometimes get down to business off the paved road. If you frequently ride on gravel and forest paths, you're better off with a cross bike. Here, the tires are often a little wider, which provides better cushioning on bumps. Forest and gravel paths are no challenge. Thus, the cross bike comes a little closer to the classic mountain bike, but without reaching its weight. Some models even have a suspension fork for even more off-road capability. When buying a cross bike with suspension fork, make sure that the damping can be deactivated. This significantly reduces the effort required to move forward when suspension is not needed.

Difference between women's and men's cross and fitness bikes
In order to roll smoothly when biking, the bike must be ideally suited to its user. For this reason, a distinction is also made in cross and fitness bikes between special frame shapes for women and men. Cross and fitness bikes such as the Koga Colmaro Sports Men use the classic diamond frame. This is characterized by the horizontally running top tube, which provides extra stiffness. This in turn improves propulsion, especially during sporty riding. For this reason, bikes with "men's frames" are also popular with many ladies who like to ride sportily.
The men's frame is contrasted with the women's frame. In the manufacture of cross and fitness bikes, trapezoidal frames are mainly represented, and more rarely double tube frames. A trapezoidal frame, as offered by the Koga Super Metro Damen, is characterized by a lower entry, which makes it easier to get on.

What is the optimum riding position on a cross and fitness bike?
If you want to be sporty on the road, you also have to sit properly on your cross bike. Only if the saddle is at the right height can the thighs transfer power to the pedals in an optimal way that is easy on the joints. The seat height should be adjusted so that the knee is almost fully extended when the front foot is in the 6 o'clock position on the pedal.
The approximate optimum seat height can be roughly calculated by multiplying the stride length by a factor of 0.88. The stride length, in turn, is measured on the inside of the thigh starting from the crotch to the sole of the foot. Unlike on a road bike, the seating position on cross and fitness bikes is upright.

Consequently, the stem must also be adjusted accordingly so that the back is straight in the riding position and the hands rest loosely on the handlebars. This can be raised or lowered using the washers (spacers) attached to the bike fork. Some bikes are alternatively equipped with adjustable stems that can be adjusted via a joint.

What is a cross bike and what features does it have?
A cyclocross bike looks like a road bike with wide tires and is the predecessor of the mountain bike. Such a bike is perfect for winter training but also in the summer it can be used in many ways. Due to the good all-round and rolling characteristics it is optimal for the daily way to work. The special feature of a cross bike is the compatibility of off-road capability and speed. By using mountain bike technology, such as disc brakes and robust wheels, these bikes are made for fast off-road rides.

Disc brake or rim brake?
The disc brake has also found its way into the cross bike segment in recent years. Accordingly, almost all new cross bikes also have wheels for disc brake mounting and the thru axle for more stiffness at the connection between the wheel and frame is big in coming.

Which group should I choose?
At the drive mostly known components from the road bike segment are used.
In addition, in the cyclocross area, the 1-speed circuit is becoming increasingly popular. Even if many still hold on to derailleurs, you see more and more riders who are on the road with groups like the SRAM Apex 1. This group has only one chainring mounted on the crank but a 11-speed cassette on the rear wheel. The 1-speed drive scores with easy handling, little cable tangle on the handlebars and especially with easy maintenance. The manufacturer Shimano still installs 2 chainrings on the crank, but is the market leader in terms of manufacturing quality and durability.

What does a cross bike cost?
A reasonable cross bike is available from about 1900 €. Depending on the equipment, there is hardly a limit to the top. The high-end devices are characterized by an extremely low weight and top equipment. So nothing stands in the way of cross fun.

Which manufacturers are there?
We offer a wide selection of well-known manufacturers such as CUBE, Koga and Kross. These brands impress with excellent quality and best driving characteristics.
