Who are the "crankbrothers"?
The brand name crankbrothers is now an indispensable term in mountain biking. It all started in a garage in Laguna Beach.... The company's leading minds are engineer Carl Winefordner and designer Frank Hermansen. If Carl and Frank - as the different surnames make it easy to see - are not biological brothers, the crankbrothers are brothers in spirit, united by the idea of developing clever and independent MTB products with a real passion for MTB sports. This philosophy not only sets components and accessories from crankbrothers apart from competing products, but also makes them so outstanding in their functions.
crankbrothers pedals inspire
Since the company was founded in 1997, California-based MTB component manufacturer crankbrothers has followed a simple design philosophy based on thinking and designing each product from the ground up. The results are surprisingly different and exceedingly functional designs that enhance the riding experience.
The most revolutionary product of crankbrothers are the so-called Eggbeater. These are clipless pedals with an open bracket design, which visually resemble a stirrer than conventional pedals. They inspire the bikers worldwide by their minimal weight and easy entry. This open design offers with 4 entry sides twice as many, as conventional click pedals and thus facilitates the click in and out - especially in difficult terrain a great advantage. To the pedal sets itself by the open design best against dirt to the defense. This lightweight "whisk" is perfect for racers and light construction enthusiasts. The small contact area is hardly noticeable in shoes with stiff soles.
Mallet3, the current version of the clipless pedal classic for downhill and freeride, shows the functional tuning to the requirements of the sport in every detail: particularly important in jumps and high speeds is a secure stand. This is ensured in the Mallet 3 a large contact surface and six additional pins per pedal side. High-quality bearings, needle bearings on the inside and industrial bearings from Enduro Bearing on the outside, ensure clean running and long-lasting durability even under the considerable loads in downhill use. The open design of the pedal prevents mud and dirt can settle. Thus, entry and exit never become a problem. The axle around which the two-piece lightweight but robust aluminum pedal body rotates is made of corrosion-resistant and extremely durable chrome molybdenum steel, which withstands even the hardest landings.
More contact surface and lateral support through additional pins offer Crankbrothers Candy pedal or the Mallet pedal for downhillers and freeriders.
Who prefers to ride on flat pedals, will also find at Crankbrothers: The Stamp ped al offers an optimal connection between shoe and pedal and drives up with an interesting innovation. In the development Crankbrothers analyzed the soles of leading shoe manufacturers and their contact surface to the pedal. The result is a flat pedal that fits perfectly to the driver and is therefore consistently offered in two different sizes - Small and Large.
Stylish crankbrothers wheels
The wheels of the Cobalt, Iodine and Synthesis series provide a lot of attention and increase the style factor of each bike many times over. With the Highline Crankbrothers brought a Dropper Post on the market, which impresses with its uncomplicated assembly and ergonomics - the driver is offered here complete freedom in the orientation of the handlebar remote.
In the accessories area , there is an expanded product range of mini tools. A special highlight is the Klic floor pump, which impresses with its revolutionary design and simple but clever functions. Not for nothing was the floor pump awarded the Design & Innovation Award 2018.
crankbrothers MTB shoes
Crankbrothers now also develops in-house mountain bike shoes that harmonize perfectly with the Crank Brothers MTB pedals. To do this, the developers of the Californian think tank have perfectly matched the nature of the soles and the stand or cleat area to the associated pedals and the respective area of use. Match system is the magic word for easier entry and exit and more fun on the trail.
The Crankbrothers Mallet shoe is designed for rough downhill use. The lighter construction variant of the Mallet E MTB shoe is aimed more at enduro and trail riders. And with the super grippy Crankbrothers Stamp shoe come flat pedal advocates fully at their expense. Each shoe model is with Boa closure, Speed Lace or simple lacing to have to meet your requirements for comfort and control optimally.
