MTB Tires
Mountain bike and cyclocross tires come with different tread patterns, while road bike tires for solid surfaces have almost no discernible tread pattern.
If the tread is worn or the sidewall looks brittle, you should replace the tire to improve performance and avoid flats. The diameter (= installed wheel size) and width of the tire are important.
However, the profile of the respective tire and the air pressure driven are decisive.
