ASSOS started in 1976 with the company founder Toni Maier the development of innovative ASSOS cycling clothing, ASSOS cycling shorts and ASSOS jerseys. He developed the first Lycra shorts and anatomical skinsuits. The new materials resulted in better aerodynamics, weight advantages and no moisture absorption. The padding was also adapted to the athlete's anatomy. Toni Maier completely dedicated himself to textile research and development.
