Change the cassette
How do I change the cassette, the sprocket set?
To disassemble and assemble the cassette you need the following tools:
- Chain whip
- Extraction tool: open-end wrench or torque wrench with 40 Newton meters
If you have the right tools, you can proceed as follows:
Disassemble
- The first step is to remove the wheel. To do this, you need to loosen and remove the quick release (take it out completely).
- Put the wheel in front of you, open the lock ring and take the chain whip. Place the chain whip on the largest sprocket and open the locking ring with the locking tool by turning it against the direction of the arrow.
- Remove the cap and pull the cassette forward.
Assemble
- Arrange or thread the (new or clean) sprockets in the correct order. Pay attention to the inscription. This must point outwards and be legible.
- Note when mounting the correct position, arrangement & gearing!
- At the end, put on the lock ring and tighten with the wrench (torque wrench) at 40 Newton meters.
- Then you can reattach the quick release and attach the wheel.
